• What is the Mock Election?

  The goals of the Mock Election program are:

  • To educate students (4th through 12th grades) on political issues and candidates

  • To give students an opportunity to cast a ballot as if participating in an actual election

  • To encourage student-parent discussions regarding the election and increase adult voter turnout

  The Leagues of Women Voters of the Salinas Valley and of the Monterey Peninsula conduct this program for students in Monterey and San Benito counties in California. Mock Election results should not be viewed as an accurate poll of student opinion.

• When is the Mock Election?

  The next Mock Election will be the 2008 General Election, Monday October 27 - Friday October 31.

• How do I sign up my class or school?

  If your school is not located in Monterey or San Benito County, please participate in the National Parent-Teacher Mock Election (www.nationalmockelection.org) or your Secretary of State's Mock Election (visit http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/studentmockelection.htm for California's Mock Election). You are welcome to use any of our curricular materials.
